The effect of ozone in killing microorganisms depends on these main factors in the air treatment conditions: ozone threshold concentration, that is, when the ozone air concentration reaches this concentration requirement, it can kill microorganisms; microorganism types; treatment time ; Ozone distribution method; the temperature and humidity conditions in the space; the reductive influence of indoor walls, ceilings, floors and other decorative materials. Under gas phase conditions, the killing effect of ozone on microorganisms is different. Experiments have proved that ozone has a strong bactericidal effect on human and animal pathogenic bacteria and viruses.

The main environmental factors affecting the ozone air disinfection are temperature and humidity. Under normal circumstances, the killing effect is good if the temperature is low and the humidity is high, and the relative humidity is more than 70%, the killing effect can be well reflected. This is because the increase in relative humidity can make cells swell and cell walls thinner, making them more susceptible to ozone penetration and dissolution.

Explanation of the toxicity, corrosivity and safety of ozone: Ozone is a non-toxic substance and safe gas. When it comes to its toxicity, it is mainly due to its strong oxidizing ability. When the concentration is higher than 1.5ppm, personnel must leave the scene because ozone irritates people. The respiratory system causes stress reaction of the respiratory system, which can cause serious reversible damage. For this reason, the International Ozone Association (IOA) has established health standards: International Ozone Association: 0.1ppm, exposure for 10 hours; the United States: 0.1ppm, 8 hours of exposure; China: 0.15ppm, 8 hours of exposure, when the ozone concentration is 0.02ppm, people with sensitive sense of smell can detect it, which is called the sensory threshold. When the concentration is 0.15ppm, it is the olfactory threshold, and most people can smell it. It is also a sanitary standard point. When the concentration reaches 1-10ppm, it is called the stimulation range. In fact, the safe use of ozone air disinfection can completely ensure that human health is not endangered. ozone air disinfection has been used for more than 100 years, and so far there has been no fatal accident due to ozone poisoning in the world.

In specific use, the ozone air disinfection process should be isolated from the personnel. The general ozone generating device is automatically controlled. As long as the relevant parameters are set, unattended operation can be achieved. This is the same as spray disinfection of chemical disinfectants. Special training is required. Compared with the on-site operation of personnel, the health of personnel is more assured.

Ozone has a strong oxidizing property. Ozone can oxidize many metals. Aluminum, zinc, lead and ozone will cause oxidative corrosion, but ferrochrome (stainless steel) containing 25% Cr is basically not corroded by ozone.

Ozone has the greatest corrosive effect on ordinary rubber, so corrosion-resistant silicone rubber or rubber products with corrosion-resistant agents should be used in the ozone air disinfection application
